Sign up NOW!
The Blue Ridge Region PCA will be having a members’ picnic at Smith Mountain Lake on Saturday, June 25th. In addition to the picnic, there will be the opportunity to tour a local private car collection, make a donation to a local charity, and see other sites with a tour ending at the picnic. This will also be a new members’ social, with special deals for those who have recently joined our region.
The day will begin as we gather at the Food Lion parking lot, 14807 Moneta Rd in Moneta at 9:30am. A Driver’s meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:45. At this time, we will also be gathering donation cash/checks for the Bedford Boys Tribute Center. We will depart at approximately 10:00 and drive to the National D-Day Memorial parking lot. Staff from the Bedford Boys Tribute Center will be meeting us there in order for us to present the donations in support of their mission. The presentation will begin at approximately 11:00. We will depart at 11:30 for a fun run to Smith Mountain Lake for the Newcomers’ Social/Picnic at the home of Jeff and Jennifer. Those interested will also have an opportunity to tour a nearby private car collection, which includes Porsches, a Ferrari and an Amphi-Car, among other vehicles and memorabilia.
Pittsburgh Car Show
Schenley Park is the scene of one of the area’s largest car shows on the July 23-24 weekend. The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix stages an International Car Show – a combined show of 20 separate displays featuring more than 3,000 cars. Display your car and get a front-row seat to watch the vintage races through the streets!
It’s a weekend show open to everyone – no invitation is needed. All makes, all years, all countries, are welcome. You’ll be a part of the show with the best parking spot all weekend to watch the vintage races on the streets surrounding the golf course. Shine up your ride and be a part of the show.
I personally have been to this car show several times. In addition to the car show, which shows thousands of vintage cars, there are must see vintage car races through Shenley Park.

Learning his ABCs the right way!
Last
A fifteen-year-old came home with a Porsche, and his parents began to yell and scream
“Where did you get that car?” He calmly told them, “I bought it today.”
“With what money!?” demanded his parents. “We know what a Porsche costs.”
“Well,” said the boy, “this one cost me fifteen dollars.”
The parents began to yell even louder. “Who would sell a car like that for fifteen dollars!?” they asked.
“It was the lady up the street,” said the boy. “Don’t know her name — they just moved in. She saw me ride past on my bike and asked me if I wanted to buy a Porsche for fifteen dollars.”
“Oh my goodness!” moaned the mother, “she must be a child abuser. Who knows what she will do next? John, you go right up there and see what’s going on.”
So the boy’s father walked up the street to the house where the lady lived and found her out in the yard calmly planting flowers. He introduced himself as the father of the boy to whom she had sold a Porsche to for fifteen dollars and demanded to know why she did it.
“Well,” she said, “this morning I got a phone call from my husband. I thought he was on a business trip, but I learned from a friend he has run off to Hawaii with his secretary. Then apparently she stole all his money and stranded him there!
Well he called me, without a dollar to his name, and asked me to sell his new Porsche and send him the money. So that’s exactly what I did.”
