Stories

For those of you who ventured out this past Saturday for the Cars N Coffee, we had a terrific time. Shawsville is located just north of Christiansburg at the base of the mountain. A neat little town that was bypassed when I-81 was built but readily accessible along Route 11. Perhaps 30 people attended and enjoyed a delightful breakfast at Hale’s Restaurant.

Following breakfast, many of us traveled over to Duncan Imports, a dealer of exotic and bizarre autos, located in Christiansburg. Bizarre is an understatement. I have never seen so many strange cars. But many old favorites were there as well. Worth the visit!

BRR-PCA Charity Fun Run, Picnic & New Members’ Greeting Sat, Jun 25, 2022

The Blue Ridge Region PCA will be having a members’ picnic at Smith Mountain Lake on Saturday, June 25th.  In addition to the picnic, there will be the opportunity to tour a local private car collection, make a donation to a local charity, and see other sites with a tour ending at the picnic.  This will also be a new members’ social, with special deals for those who have recently joined our region.

The day will begin as we gather at the Food Lion parking lot, 14807 Moneta Rd in Moneta at 9:30am.  A Driver’s meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:45. At this time, we will also be gathering donation cash/checks for the Bedford Boys Tribute Center.  We will depart at approximately 10:00 and drive to the National D-Day Memorial parking lot.  Staff from the Bedford Boys Tribute Center will be meeting us there in order for us to present the donations in support of their mission.  The presentation will begin at approximately 11:00.  We will depart at 11:30 for a fun run to Smith Mountain Lake for the Newcomers’ Social/Picnic at the home of Jeff and Jennifer.  Those interested will also have an opportunity to tour a nearby private car collection, which includes Porsches, a Ferrari and an Amphi-Car, among other vehicles and memorabilia.

Porsche and Other Stuff

Bring a Trailer

I had to post this picture of a beautiful 356 Speedster. This car could be yours!

This 1958 Porsche 356A Speedster was completed on November 25, 1957, reportedly underwent a refurbishment during the 1990s, and was acquired by the seller in 2004. Finished in red with a black soft top over black leather upholstery, the car is powered by a replacement 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes gold exterior badging, body-color bumpers with chrome overriders, headlight stone guards, fixed-back bucket seats, and chrome ventilated wheels. This 356 Speedster is being offered with service records from current ownership, a Porsche Production Specifications sheet, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The high bid was $265K. It failed to meet the reserve. So, dig down in your pocketbook. Click Here
