Old Oak Cars and Coffee
We had a great turnout at our November Cars and Coffee, a total of 23 attendees. The rain finally stopped and members came from afar!
This was Gene Reed’s final event as Chair of Cars and Coffee and the group gave him a round of applause for his fine work.

NOTE: I was sitting with David Hay at the Cars N’ Coffee. He was telling me about an event he planned for another club and the attendance was very low. He spent hours and hours of work in preparation.
The same thing is true for our Rally. Tim Wallace has spent countless of hours in preparation for this event. And he had an earlier one postponed.

A little Pain for your Eyes
The destroyed Briggs Cunningham owned Porsche 906 parked in some of the warehouse garages here at Sebring after it’s accident during the 1966 12 Hour race.
The car was entered by Otto Zipper and was driven by Don Wester and Scooter Patrick, during the race they were running in 4th place behind the N.A.R.T Ferrari 365P2/3 of Mario Andretti and Pedro Rodriguez in which had spun in the hands of Andretti infront of the Porsche 906 of Don Wester near the Webster turn.
Wester noticed the spinning Ferrari and lifted to slow a little then he made passed the Ferrari but it unfortunately struck the Porsches left quarter pannel then Wester spun and went off track he was surrounded by the cloud of dust while spinning the reason he didn’t realize that he ran over four people during that high speed off track.
Don Wester survived the accident leaving him with a broken ankle and lacerations on his lower right leg and felt terrible at the same time for accidentally killing those four people.
