Stories
Carolyn and I took a quick trip to Florida for a Grandson’s Birthday party last week and it confirmed the great decision to purchase a 981 and for it to be equipped with the PDK transmission. The sport leather seats with heat and cool worked perfectly to keep us comfortable the whole trip although getting out after some of the longer stints was a sight for onlookers. Three days and 1250 miles and we love our Boxster S. The family loved the Boxster as it is the first time most of them had gotten to look at, drive or ride in it. Our old 986 was sold two years ago, but we expect to have this one in the stable for a long time.

Annual Meeting/Holiday Event
Greetings Blue Ridge Region PCA members! I hope everyone is having a beautiful Fall Season.
Time is moving fast and before you know it, the winter season will be upon us. So it’s a great time to start planning our Annual Meeting/Holiday Event! To have a successful event we need some Volunteers to Chair and Organize our Annual Meeting/Holiday Event. This does not need to be one person but hopefully a couple of volunteers, which makes the planning easier and a fun social activity itself.
The earlier volunteers step-up and start the easier it will be to schedule and plan. The volunteers will be responsible to secure a venue and a caterer or other food option, decide upon a date in November or December, and to establish the budget with Executive Board input. The planning team will be supported by the Board and should feel free to engage other Region members too.
Please let me know if you will step-up and help drive a successful event.
Thank you, Reid & the BRR-PCA Board
Historic Races at VIR
For those who have never attended, the SVRA historic races will be at VIR on October 8-10. It is a fun weekend. The pits are wide open and the driver/owners are more than willing to share their stories. Heacock Insurance is one of the sponsors of this event. They provide insurance for historic cars at their agreed value. You can contact them to get tickets at a considerable discount or buy them at the door at VIR.
Also anyone attending the Hagerty/SVRA event at VIR on October 8 that would like to drive down together, we’ll have a small group meeting up at the One Stop Mart at the intersection of Rte. 40 and 29 in Gretna leaving at 0800 hrs. This is not a PCA event just a chance to arrive and park together. Contact Gene Reed if you are interested in joining. Gene Reed

The Spa
Pictured is something that you don’t see very often in todays endurance racing. JW Automotive Engineering Teammates Jo Siffert and Leo Kinnunen helping to change a tire on their Porsche 917 K on course during a practice session for the 1000km race at Spa. Practice makes perfect and although they did not have to use this new-found skill during the event, they did manage to take home the 1970 race trophy and the top step of the podium.
