Message to Our New Members

I moved down to this region about ten years ago. Previously, I was a member of the Potomac Region, which encompasses the MD/DC/NVA area. It is one of the largest regions in the country, with over 2500 members, compared to our region with fewer than 300 members. At one of the first events I attended up there was a speaker, Fred Phelps. Fred welcomed us to the club and ended his talk with the statement: “Its all about the people!” And if you go to the PCA.org website you will see that it is still very much a part of the mantra of the organization.

But, Blue Ridge Region has something else that you probably won’t find in the Potomac Region or for that matter, probably seldom anywhere. And that is family. By family, I don’t mean your kids, or grandkids. By family, I mean you. People care about one another here. Look at the list of Charter Members below and Past Presidents, and consider the lists that are not shown below, of Club Secretaries, or Treasurers, or Membership Chairs, or Historians, or Event Organizers, or just those folks who want to get away from the day to day and just go out with their cars and have fun. They are our family. You are our family. I can say that in my ten years here, I have met more people, and enjoyed more friendships than I ever did in my over 25 years in PCA. And I have witnessed more acts of friendship than my lifetime prior to moving here. Maybe it is just this part of the country. Maybe its the people!

You have joined this club. Great decision. Now make one more. Get involved. Attend an activity. Come to the monthly meetings. Have pizza and beer. Make a friend. You will not regret it!

It’s the People!

And if you are free this weekend, take a chance. Come to the 40th Anniversary Dinner. Join me and my bride at our table. I look forward to meeting new people! Or perhaps I will see you at the next Cars and Coffee.
