Remember the Chapparal?

Here is an interview (albeit long) about Jim Hall and the development of the car. It is very interesting. It is broken up into sections. Worth a listen. Click on the picture. This guy was brilliant!

Driving Daytona – Bill Hume

I wanted to pass along a recent trip to Daytona to participate in a HPDE Event put on by the Audi Club of Ohio.

I mentioned to Sheldon Bower (Porsche 944), Sam Lionberger (BMW M4), and Richard Taylor (Mazda Miata) that driving Daytona was a bucket list of mine. They jumped on this idea and Sheldon, Sam and I trailered our cars down to Daytona to drive on December 10-12, 2021 both during the day and under the lights.  The haul was 1328 miles round trip and we enjoyed the sights of Savannah on the way down and the way back. Richard Taylor flew down to join us for the weekend. Many miles and many memorable laps driving the historic racetrack. Sheldon’s 18 year old son, Corbin Bower (Easy C from FC) joined us which kept us all young in Daytona Beach!

I learned after arriving in Savannah that I had left all my clothes in Roanoke so what do you do when this happens! You have a timed shopping spree at Wal-Mart to get everything you need for a week long trip. You haven’t shopped until your friends pick out your clothes for you.

During the 3 day event we also were able to watch the GT International Race who shared the track with us during this trip. Nice and really fast cars!

We obviously had to find a go cart track to race and it was an extremely competitive event. I, however, didn’t win.
